NEW VIOLENT CRIMES UNIT ANNOUNCED BY STATE ATTORNEY ANDREW
BAIN
For decades, trying to get violent crimes cases through the court system and get criminals off the streets has been a challenge. A new initiative announced by
State Attorney Andrew Bain would create a Violent Crimes Unit to overcome that burden.
The main focus is to assign five prosecutors to some of the worst cases
and give those prosecutors a chance to get the cases through the court system aggressively and quickly.
The sooner criminals are in prison, the sooner they’re
off the street. “Those prosecutors will always be ready. So when the time comes, when it’s time for a trial, when it’s time to do the job they came here to do, they’re going to be ready to do it,” Bain said.
Since the five attorneys will not be distracted by other duties, it should make the the unit much more effective, according to Bain.
Former state attorney Monique Worrell says she launched her own crime-fighting initiatives but was removed from office by Gov. Ron DeSantis, who said she wasn't tough enough on crime.
Our Criminal Defense and DUI / Traffic Violation attorneys fight to protect the rights of our clients and have successfully litigated to reduce thousands of sentences and fines.
