FLORIDA BAR LAUNCHES LEGAL RESOURCE EDUCATION INITIATIVE
On Tuesday, November 29, the Florida Bar announced a new initiative called "Life's Legal Moments" that is focused on providing Florida residents with educational resources
on how to hire a lawyer, where to find a lawyer that meets their specific needs, and how to navigate the legal system.
The initiative was spearheaded by Florida Bar
President Gary Lesser and is designed to offer public guidance when navigating instances that necessitate retaining counsel to evaluate and help pursue legal work.
Lesser said "The ability of the legal profession to serve the public is essential to what we do as lawyers."
Participants of the program can be assisted
on the program website on topics including real estate transactions, drafting a will, handling employment disputes, dealing with insurance claims, filing for divorce, starting a business, or obtaining guardianship.
Some quick figures from a recent survey indicate:
- 75% of Floridians have faced a legal issue in the last decade.
- 91% of Floridians believe retaining a lawyer would better protect their rights.
- 84% believe hiring a lawyer would result in better outcomes.

While Florida law allows almost anyone to represent themselves in court (known as "appearing pro se"), people who hire lawyers tend to be more satisfied with their case's outcome than those who don't.
Lawyers can help their clients get better outcomes, including less time in litigation and more beneficial settlements, verdicts, or benefits.
Whether it's interpreting the law, filing motions, compiling evidence or negotiating settlements, relying on the guidance of trained and experienced legal counsel can save time and prevent costly mistakes.
